NASA spots giant ocean swell that could signal El Niño’s return

NASA satellites have detected a large pulse of warm water in the Pacific Ocean, indicating that El Niño is likely developing. This warm water is carried eastward by waves known as Kelvin waves, which also cause sea levels to rise.
